9-1-1 JOB SITE ACTION STEPS
- Immediately contact the local State Police Office to request "test" procedures.
Please do this from mid-morning to early afternoon when traffic control issues are reduced.
Take special note of your signal strength for each test locale.
- Make a few calls from different locales on the job site to determine cell phone signal strength. BE AWARE OF ANY "DEAD SPOTS" IF ANY EXIST.
- Make special note of landmarks to identify the exact location of your job site:
- Street name and number of street if there is a named street.
Otherwise, identify the street off which your "new street" is located.
- In the case of new streets, identify very specific landmarks to find your job site:
- Easily recognized nearby building.
- Utility pole number.
- Mile markers-if they exist.
- Fire alarm boxes and numbers if they exist.
- Nearest house/building number on a named street near your job site street.
- Have this information posted in a clearly visible place on the job site identifying 9-1-1 information.
BE AWARE:
- Cell Phone service carriers are Phase II 9-1-1 compliant.
- Make sure that your cell phone is Phase II 9-1-1 compliant (has a GLOBAL POSITIONING CHIP in it).
- TEST YOUR CELL PHONE ON THE JOB SITE.
Test your signal strength on the job site. If it is weak or not available, identify where you can obtain a strong signal near the job site.
- DO NOT PROGRAM YOUR CELL PHONE FOR 9-1-1.
THIS PREVENTS FALSE ALARMS.
- IF YOUR CELL PHONE HAS A "RED BUTTON" FOR EMERGENCY CALLS/9-1-1 DISABLE THIS FEATURE.
THIS PREVENTS FALSE ALARMS.
- 9-1-1 CALLS ARE HANDLED BY THE MASSACHUSETTS STATE POLICE IN 3 SITES:
- MIDDLEBOROUGH
- FRAMINGHAM
- NORTHHAMPTON
Your job site is required to have a properly trained FIRST AID PERSON and a properly supplied FIRST AID KIT on the JOB SITE.
MASSACHUSETTS IS A "LOCAL EMPHASIS PROGRAM" STATE FOR RESIDENTIAL CONSTRUCTION
